State trying to disrupt Naidu’s yatra: TDP

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has charged the government with trying to create obstacles and law and order problems in the ‘Mee Kosam’ yatra of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Senior party leaders -- P. Keshav, A. Revanth Reddy, R. Ramachandraiah and Ch. Sudhakar Rao -- alleged at a press conference here on Wednesday that the response evoked by Mr. Naidu was ‘causing sleepless nights’ to some Ministers. They charged Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy with directing his Cabinet colleagues to create chaos at TDP meetings. They accused the government of failing to provide even minimum security for Mr. Naidu. They alleged that prices of essential commodities, besides steel and cement had gone up by 300-500 per cent during the last four years. They demanded inclusion of steel and cement in the essential commodities list and invocation of ESMA.

Mr. Ramachandraiah said that his partymen would gherao Dr. Reddy’s residence if the State failed to hold polls to APCO and release Rs.30-crore arrears to its cooperatives.
