Sensex down 86 points
MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange closed weak on Wednesday with the Sensex ending 86 points lower.
Brokers said the trend in other Asian bourses was positive but investors here either preferred booking profits at existing higher levels or closing their positions before the April contract of Futures & Options (F&O) which ends on Thursday.
The 30-share index closed at 16698.04 against the close of 16783.87 on Tuesday.
After a firm start at 16871.27, the Sensex fluctuated irregularly in a range of 282 points.
The market breadth, however, remained positive as the small-cap and mid-cap segments attracted good activity. Bank, capital goods and consumer durables shares were the ones which came under the maximum selling pressure. — PTI
