Ashutosh to meet Rastogi

NEW DELHI: National hardcourt champion Ashutosh Singh defeated the National grasscourt champion Vishnu Vardhan 7-6(2), 2-6, 6-4 in the first round of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Taizhou, China, on Wednesday.

Ashutosh will meet compatriot Karan Rastogi, who defeated eighth seed Miles Armstrong of Australia 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles, however, last week’s champions, Ashutosh and Rastogi lost 3-6, 2-6 to Tzu-Yang Lin and Chu-Huan Yi of Chinese Taipei in the first round.
