Voter ID cards to be issued

GUNTUR: More than 20 lakh photo identity cards will be issued in Guntur district after a detailed procedure followed from May 1, observer for the purpose T. Radha told district officials at a special meeting here on Wednesday. He wanted the officials to work with dedication to identify genuine voters during the door-to-door campaign to be taken up from May 1 to July 7. The officials would go round the houses and ask the voters to come to the nearest Photo ID issuing centre. From July 17 to 23 they would take up review of the lists prepared and if there were objections with regard to the list, people could represent to authorities between July 24 and August 7. The final draft publication of voters’ lists would be published on August 31.
