Karachi: New Zealand has confirmed it would tour Pakistan to play three One-Day Internationals before the ICC Champions Trophy in September, the Pakistan Cricket Board said here on Wednesday. “They will come just before the Champions Trophy and they will also be sending a security delegation to assess the conditions before the tour,” Shafqat Naghmi, the Chief Operating Officer of the PCB said. He said the board had extended invitations to New Zealand and West Indies to tour around the same time so that a tri-series could be played. “But the West Indies board have expressed their inability because of prior commitments in Canada. But New Zealand have said they will play three-one-dayers, obviously subject to clearance,” he said. But Naghmi said the board was confident that all the tours this year would take place as per schedule. “The confirmation of the New Zealand tour is a good development for us. India and Sri Lanka have also said they would be willing to come and play one-day series close to the Champions Trophy from September 11,” he said. — PTI
