Host of the show: Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar Bringing a dozen talented musical families from across the country under one platform is Sony Entertainment Television’s new musical talent show, “Waar Parriwar -- Sangeet Ka Naya Gharana”, beginning this coming Monday. The family-based show will bring melodious music to the drawing rooms of television viewers with the participating families competing with each other for the coveted title f “Sangeet Ka Gharana”. CelebrityA unique thing about the show is that each family is a celebrity in its own city or town as far as music is concerned. Hosted by vivacious Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar, the musical show is expected to bring up the best from the participating families who are known for their singing prowess. It will be aired every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The serial has been conceptualised bearing in mind that music has become a part and parcel of all Indian traditions and customs, particularly weddings in which the family members and relatives sing and dance during rituals like “mehendi” and “sangeet”. The show will bring some of the stalwarts of the music industry as judges every week and will have two esteemed members from India’s first singing family, Usha Mangehkar and brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar, as resident gurus training the participants. The first judge of the show is reputed music composer Ismail Darbar and his wife Ayesha Darbar. Commenting on the show, Albert Almeida of Sony Entertainment Television says: “Music is the universal language that transcends all barriers. In a culturally rich country like ours, it is music that brings families together -- be it a wedding celebration, birth of a child, anniversaries or festive celebrations. Music plays an important role in bonding people.
