PUDUKOTTAI: A ten-day, free summer training in painting, currently on at the Government Museum, has attracted a large number of children from different schools. In all, 82 students from 15 schools in and around Pudukottai have been undergoing the training which concludes on Friday.
M. P. Siddarth, a IV standard student of SFS Matriculation Higher Secondary School and M. Janani, VII standard student and B. Yogeshwari of Standard X from the Vairam Matriculation Higher Secondary School, in their feedback about the programme, say that they learnt the art of creativity in painting.
“Although we have been good at painting, we were not able to generate ideas of our own so far,” they said.
Artists M. Ayyappa and M. Rajappa, who impart the training, say that students evinced keen interest in developing their skills. They also improvised their knowledge. Museum Curator C. Govindaraj points out that the training programme aimed at utilisation of summer vacation for a more meaningful purpose.
Apart from painting, training on crafts was also imparted to them.
