Nod for NLC project

New Delhi: The Centre on Thursday approved a Rs. 4,909.54-crore thermal power project by Neyveli Lignite Corporation, which will add 1,000 MW capacity to the southern grid.

The project will be executed by a joint venture between NLC and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, it was decided at a meeting of the Cabinet.

Information and Broadcasting Minister P.R. Dasmunsi said, “The power generated from Tuticorin power project units would cater to the demand of the States in the southern region.” — PTI
