Nine held on charge of pilfering maize
Kakinada: The port police arrested nine persons – A. Rajababu, Patta Dharma Rao, K. Lovaraju, K. Kannayya, S. Veerraju, Pemmadi Dharma Rao, P. Musalayya, P. Adinarayana and P. Prasad – on the charge of pilfering maize meant for export from the port.
According to port SI Y.R.K. Srinivas, 400 bags of maize worth nearly Rs. 90,000 and three boats were seized from the accused persons, who were charged with smuggling the commodity through Regukalva canal to Vuppalanka and Chidiga villages from where it was forwarded to other locations. All of them were sent to remand.
