CHANDIGARH: The joint chain fast by Panjab University teachers, students and technical staff demanding Central University status entered its 18th day on Thursday. According to Panjab University Teachers’ Association secretary Manjit Singh, the Library Staff Association of the University has also decided to take an active part in the ongoing agitation. Neelam Sharma, president of the Panjab University Library Staff Association, said it was unfortunate that neither the Union Government nor the Punjab Government had accepted the University’s legitimate demand. Prof. Manjit Singh said the agitation would be further intensified.
