A.K. Subbaiah criticises Mahadev

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: the Former MLC and Congress leader A.K. Subbaiah on Thursday criticised the former Minister M. Mahadev and the former Additional Director-General of Police Subhash Bharani for joining the Bharatiya Janata Party just because they were denied Congress ticket to contest in the Assembly elections, sacrificing secular principles.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Subbaiah, a former president of the BJP and was instrumental in installing the first-ever non-Congress government led by Ramakrishna Hegde, said that that the two could have fought as rebels or independents, rather than joining the BJP.

He said that Mr. Mahadev, who raised a hue and cry when the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramiah joined the Congress and dubbing him as “migrant,” had harmed the interest of a candidate of the BJP in Chamarajanagar, who had been nurturing the desire to contest there. Mr. Bharani had knocked the doors of the Congress and turned to the BJP, when he was not obliged by it. What had happened to his ideology and principles, which he claimed to have espoused, all these years, he asked.
