Over 71,000 students to take COMED-K test

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: As many as 71,990 students will appear for the Under Graduate Entrance Test conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka, scheduled to be held on May 4.

While the Common Entrance Test, which took place on Sunday, does not allow students from other States to take the test, COMED-K UGET, which will decide all admissions to private colleges, has more than twice the number of students from outside Karnataka. A total of 51,855 non-Karnataka students will take the exam out of which 55,037 students will have test centres in Bangalore, and roughly 2,000 each in Belgaum, Gulbarga, Mangalore and Mysore.

The examination will be held in 83 centres in Bangalore and 26 centres across the State. This is bound to create some chaos in the city with a whole lot of people coming in and struggling for booking in lodges and hotels in the city.

Candidates who do not receive the test admission ticket can contact the COMED-K helpdesk or log onto the website and use the individual logins provided.

A press release issued by the COMED-K said that candidates arriving later than 15 minutes after commencement will be disallowed from taking the test. While the combined paper for physics and chemistry will be conducted from 10 a.m. to noon, the biology paper will be conducted from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and mathematics from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.. According to the release, 50 officials will be deputed in every test centre and regular inspection squads will monitor the test.
