HYDERABAD: The fourth edition of TiE-ISB Connect (The Indus Entrepreneur – Indian School of Business), a business plan presentation platform, will be organised here from November 5 to 7. The campaign has been launched well in advance with a view to popularising the concept in every nook and corner of the country targeting people in towns in tier-II and III categories and tapping talent among the 800 million Indians who have not been part of the urban buzz. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, president of the TiE J. A. Chowdary said that the there was a lot of opportunity to be addressed at the bottom of the pyramid. This time, the TiE-ISB Connect format would also be changed to familiarise the participants with the process of impressing the venture capital (VC) funds to invest in the proposed businesses. Mentoring would be provided to the participants by the TiE-ISB teams. Besides encouraging bright ideas, even start-up companies would also be provided an avenue to explain their business models. The VC funds are in a dialogue with seven of those who proposed business ideas and six start-up companies out of the 350 participants. Some of them would bear fruit by the time the event was conducted. Ajit Rangnekar, deputy Dean of the ISB, said that technology was the first edition’s theme. The TiE-ISB Connect recognised the social need for encouraging the rural talent and create wealth. V. Chandrasekhar of the ISB said that business models in the realms of low-cost housing, infrastructure, healthcare, media and entertainment, logistics would be the focus areas.
