NEW DELHI: As Nepal readies for Maoists’ rule and the abolition of monarchy, the External Affairs Ministry has organised a two-day seminar on the entire gamut of Indo-Nepal relations, inviting a number of senior political leaders, journalists, diplomats, Ministers, advocates and academicians from Nepal to participate in it. The seminar, to be inaugurated by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday, will see participation of Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh, the former Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Deb Mukherjee, and Special Envoy of the Prime Minister Shyam Saran. Besides Nepalese Ambassador Durgesh Mansingh, O.P. Gajurel, who heads the international affairs bureau of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Sarita Giri, a Madheshi leader, Rajan Bhattarai of the Communist Party of Nepal, and Digvijay Singh, senior Congress leader, will discuss “Political Dimensions of Indo-Nepal Relations.” More sessionsAnother session has been planned on “Trade and Investment Relations” and “Economic Cooperation in the context of Nepal’s Development Priorities” which will witness the participation of senior officials of the Commerce Ministry of Nepal and leading industrialists. Yet another session will be devoted to “Cross-Border Linkages through Media and Culture” where media experts, television anchors and journalists from both countries will have wide ranging discussions. A Nepali documentary “Team Nepal,” presentations on border infrastructure and release of Indian Embassy publication “Being Together, Growing Together” will be the other highlights of the high-profile seminar.
