Nazareth: Sports Authority of India, Chennai entered the semifinals of the 74th Canon Margoschis memorial Trophy State-level football tournament defeating R.L. Institute, Madurai 2-0 at the Margoschis Higher Secondary School ground, here on Thursday.

Pradeep and Ilamurugan netted the goals in the 13th and 30th minute respectively.

Narayanan scalps nine

A deadly bowling spell by leg spinner M. Narayanan, who scalped nine wickets for 30, enabled AP Tech Software Lab Cricket Club defeat Vanchi Cricket Club by 67 runs in the Canara Bank-Sivagangai DCA ‘A’ division league at Karaikudi recently.

The scores: ‘A’ division: AP Tech Software Lab CC 143 in 26.5 overs (Muthu Kumar 44) bt Vanchi CC 76 in 20.5 overs (M. Narayanan nine for 30).

Oscar CC 233 for seven in 35 overs (Senthil 61, Ibrahim 62, Vinoth 51) bt Karaikudi Town CC 197 for nine in 35 overs (Balakumar 62, Manikandan 46); Sachin Brothers CC 147 in 38.3 overs (Prabhakaran 40) lost to Knights CC 150 for seven in 31.3 overs.
