Hot, hot Hyderabad

The bugbear for every Hyderabadi is back. And this time, its intensity is more, not allowing people even to sleep peacefully at nights. By this time one might have guessed what it’s all about. Yes, it’s the searing summer heat of Hyderabad, a source of scourge for all of us.

With temperatures consistently crossing the 40-degree mark, don’t be surprised if the Hyderabad MET Department declares heat wave alert in a day or two. This means extra precautions including avoiding going out in the afternoons. The dry wind, especially in the afternoons, makes life even more difficult for one and all.

While everyone grumbles about the soaring temperature, summer surely has brought cheers to scores of families who depend on sale of summer related refreshments. The juice stalls, tender coconut bandis, lassi, pudina juice sellers, not to mention scores of electronic goods shops selling air-conditioners and coolers, are doing roaring business this summer.
