Special Correspondent

Reading session of Maqdoom’s ghazals

Hyderabad: Coinciding with the birth centenary celebrations of the famous Hyderabad-born Urdu poet, Maqdoom Mohiuddin, the Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation is organising a unique theatre production, “Raat Phoolon ki” in association with the A.P. Tourism Department on April 26 at Taramati Baradari.

The hour-long programme involves a reading session of the romantic ghazals of Maqdoom on stage while a classical dancer with a group will perform fusion numbers to santoor-based music composed and played live by santoor player Rahul Sharma, son of maestro Shiv Kumar Sharma.

‘Raat Phoolon Ki’ is Mohammad Ali Baig’s third production in line with the ‘Heritage Theatre’ genre that he has ushered in with ‘Taramati-The Legend of An Artist’, a theatre spectacle based on the life of the dancer-singer of the Qutub Shahi era and ‘His Exalted Highness’, another period spectacle chronicling the VII Nizam’s rule.

Entry is by donor passes of Rs. 250 available at A.A. Hussain, Abid Road, Walden, Begumpet and Ofen, Road No. 10, Banjara Hills.
