Chemmanur heist accused seeks bail

BANGALORE: One of the accused in the Chemmanur Jewellery heist on Thursday moved the Karnataka High Court for bail.

The petitioner, Ancil Joseph of Kunnampuram post of Kakinad taluk in Ernakulam district in Kerala, said he was implicated by the Bangalore police for the theft of Rs. 4 crore worth jewellery from Chemmanur Jewels showroom in Kamanahalli in Bangalore on August 11, 2007. Mr. Joseph said the police had named his as accused number 15 in the case and claimed that he had supplied the car to the miscreants who robbed the shop. He said the Fast Track Court (FTC-3), Bangalore, on January 22, rejected his bail plea. Justice Ravi Naik adjourned the case to next week.
