Kodiyeri urged to look into blocking of Sisuvihar road during functions at Trivandrum Club

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Deputy Mayor and CPI leader Vazhuthacaud R. Narendran Nair has asked the Minister for Home and Vigilance to issue instructions to Director General of Police and Commissioner of Police not to block entry of vehicles to Sisuvihar road during VIP marriages and other functions at the Trivandrum Club.

In a memorandum to Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the CPI leader pointed out that the road was blocked from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on four days this month for facilitating entry of VIPs to the club during marriages and other functions. The blocking of the road caused inconvenience to the hundreds of residents and office-goers.

Apart from the Sisuvihar and Chinmaya Schools and Rotary Institute, a number of government, semi-government and private institutions are housed in the road.

The Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, NCC Directorate, Sasthamangalam Village Office and Municipal Guest House are located in the road. The second entry to the GHSS, Cotton Hill, is also in the road. The police did not allow even women and children to move along the road. Many had to go to Vellayambalam to gain entry to the road. Besides, the police abused those who questioned blocking of the road,” he said.
