Farmers asked to use regulated markets

Staff Reporter

KARUR: Farmers can sell their produce at the regulated markets at Irumboothipatti and Karur in Karur district at a reasonable price and without being harried by the middlemen, according to the Tiruchi Marketing Committee Secretary M. Saradha.

In a press release issued here Mrs. Saradha has pointed out that a lot of farmers in the district were ready to harvest groundnut crop. They could sell their agricultural produce at the nearest regulated market to get a good remunerative price and to avoid the middlemen menace and the attendant commission, besides getting immediate cash.

The State Government has announced several benefits for the farmers who sell their produce through the regulated market over long periods. Farmers should make use of them by utilising the services of the Regulated Markets at Karur and Irumboothipatti, she added.
