VISAKHAPATNAM: The Layout Penalisation Scheme and Building Penalisation Schemes launched by the State government have suddenly raised the demand for licensed surveyors. The applicants are facing a peculiar problem as the deadline (April 30) is nearing fast. The surveyors are refusing to take up fresh work to draw the building plans by taking the measurements and drawing the maps due to paucity of time. There is also speculation that the last date will be extended due to poor response as of now to the compulsory regularisation offer by the government by paying regularisation fees. However, there is no confirmation yet. While the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority is accepting applications for layout approval, the Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation is getting forms for building regularisations. The builders and those who bought flats built in unauthorised floors were the first to submit the applications as soon as the twin schemes were launched on February. “In view of shortage of surveyors and confusion regarding the schemes, the last date should be extended by a month or two,” one of the licensed surveyors said. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has already announced that it will accept applications without building plan by surveyors/architects provided the applicant gives an undertaking to submit it in a month. Some surveyors say that if the deadline is not extended in GVMC area, permission should be given to accept applications without building measurements.
