BERHAMPUR: A three-day inter-company Human Resources Management (HRM) conference of the JK group was inaugurated on Wednesday at the S.C. Jain memorial auditorium at Jaykaypur in Rayagada district.The theme of the conference was ‘HR competencies for enhancing strategic contribution to business’. More than 50 HR professionals serving different business units of the JK group are attending the conference hosted by the JK paper mills. S.K. Tamotia, who has led different major aluminium industries of the country like NALCO, INDAL, Aditya Aluminium and HINDALCO, was the chief guest at the inaugural session. S.Y. Siddiqui, the head of HR, IT and finance of Maruti Udyog, P. Dwarikanath, HR chief of Glaxo Smithline Beecham and P.V. Bhide, the president of the corporate HR of JK industries Ltd. are also taking part in the conference as experts. Mr. Tamotia said search, selection and retention of talents had become a major challenge in the growing corporate world as the aspirations of the workforce was also on the rise. He felt the HR component plays a subtle but important role in the growth as well as downfall of any company. He advised the modern HR professionals to use advanced software and competency mapping techniques to assess the capability and lacuna of their workforce regularly.
