Members of the Orissa Secondary School Teachers’ Association staging a dharna in Berhampur on Thursday. BERHAMPUR: Members of the Ganjam circle unit of the Orissa Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSSTA) staged a dharna in front of the Circle-Inspector (CI) of School’s office in the city on Thursday. The teachers from Ganjam and Gajapati districts demanded payment of salaries in time. Secretary of the Ganjam circle of the association, Kamaraju Maharana, alleged that the teachers of Ganjam circle had not received the salary for the month of February, while teachers of all other districts of the State received it. Officials blamedThe teachers also alleged that all other government teachers of the State have already received the arrears of the 6 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) declared by the State government except the teachers of the Ganjam circle. They blamed the officials of the CI office for their incompetence due to which salary grant of teachers for the month of March could not reach the treasuries of Ganjam district. The Hindi teachers of the block grant schools of the educational circle have also not received the arrears following enhancement of their salaries. As per the agitating teachers, the staff of the CI office usually misbehave with the teachers and with some ulterior motive they delay the payment of teachers. Although there is a provision for the payment of provisional pension to retired teachers even without allocation, the pensioners under Ganjam CI office never get their pension in time, alleged the teachers. They threatened to intensify their agitation if the staff of CI office did not change their functioning.
