Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Gold jewellery weighing 50 tolas was stolen from the locker of Ameerpet branch Allahabad bank.

The locker belongs to O. Vijaya Laxmi of Yellareddyguda.

Laxmi had last opened her locker on April 12.

After completing transactions, she kept the key in her handbag as usual.

Missing

However, she noticed that the key was missing from her handbag on Monday and immediately alerted the bank authorities.

She also requested them to provide a duplicate key.

As she had to open the locker, she got the bank officials to break open the locker on Wednesday and found 50 tolas gold jewellery was missing, said S. R. Nagar Detective Inspector Asad Ali.

He said a transaction pertaining to her locker was recorded in the bank register on April 12 with Laxmi’s forged signature. Based on a complaint lodged by Laxmi on Wednesday, the police registered a theft case and are investigating it.
