7 die in car-lorry smash at Harur

MANGLED REMAINS: The car which was involved in an accident at Harur on Thursday .

Dharmapuri: Seven persons, including three women of a family, were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a car and a lorry at Harur on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Neelamegam (80), Pandian (50), his wife Suseela (47), sons Arun (22) and Divakar (19), Kalpana (23) and Vimala (28). According to police, Neelamegam and his family were going from Gingee to Coimbatore to attend a wedding when the accident took place.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel extricated the bodies from the vehicle and sent them for post-mortem. Sudhakar (30), Unnamalai (52), Lalitha (45) and Ashwin (15) were seriously injured and admitted to a private hospital in Salem. A case has been registered.
