BANGALORE: The CEO of Accenture — a global company specialising in management consulting, technology services and outsourcing — on Thursday discounted fears of business being impacted by the slowing down of the U.S. economy. Speaking to the media here, company Chairman and CEO William Green said, “We have not seen any cancellations or deferrals of business deals yet.” Mr. Green, who is on a week-long tour of the country, said the Bangalore facility was an important part of the company’s operations because it was a ‘centre of innovation.’ This centre employs a little over half of the total number employed by the company in India. Mr. Green said within Accenture the in-house use of the ‘Made in Bangalore’ label signified the extent to which the company had leveraged Bangalore’s importance as a centre of innovation in its global operations. On the prospects for outsourcing in the context of widespread fears of a slowdown of the U.S. economy, Mr. Green said, “Ninety per cent of our business is about offering a business case or investment strategies to our clients.” Businesses, he said, will invest as long as they feel a need to improve their businesses. Addressing the needs of the Indian domestic market was also “a major priority” for Accenture, he said.
