Health Ministry issues directives on OBC quota
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has instructed institutions of higher education under it to implement the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006.
The Act seeks to reserve 27 per cent seats for students from Other Backward Classes (OBCs) from the coming academic session.
The Ministry has asked 18 medical institutions to make provisions to increase seats by upgradation of infrastructure, creation of additional faculty and other posts, besides ensuring additional budget for the purpose.
It has decided to adopt instructions issued by the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry in this regard and as such all Central educational institutions have been asked to follow the guidelines of the HRD Ministry issued on April 20 for enforcing the OBC quota.
