MYSORE: Can Mysore stake its claim as a destination for adventure sports? The question assumes significance in view of the growing response to adventure and outdoor activities all through the year. The image make over is slow but is perceptible and a city known to be a pensioner’s paradise and given to a laidback approach seems to be stepping on the accelerator to hit life on the fast lane. Be it the Department of Youth Services and Sports or private organisations run by sports enthusiasts, adventure sports is a permanent fixture and hits a peak during the summer when the annual Himalayan expedition draws a full house. But during rest of the year, trekking to Chamundi Hills is a daily routine while the more adventurous would prefer the Himmavad Gopalaswami Hills adjoining Bandipur. Now that summer holidays are here the first batch of youth are gearing to hit the Himalayan trail later this month and will depart on Sunday.
