ALAPPUZHA: A government-run Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has begun functioning in the district. Based at the Observation Home in Mayithara, near Cherthala, the CWC will look at ways to rehabilitate destitute children, children facing threats to their lives in various forms, children who are ill and have no access to healthcare, those who are exploited for illegal activities and those used for illegal labour.
