News Analysis
>>The fourth paragraph in a New Delhi report “Vaccine recalled, probe ordered” (April 25, 2008) was “The vaccine was manufactured and supplied by the Indian Immunologicals Limited.” Chennai reports (on April 24 and April 25, 2008) said the vaccine was manufactured by the Human Biologicals (and not Biological, as was published) Institute (HBI) at Hyderabad. HBI is a division of Indian Immunologicals Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy (not Diary, as published in the page 1 report on April 25, 2008) Development Board under the Agriculture Ministry. >>In a report “Relatives meet Sarabjit” (April 24, 2008, page 1), the third paragraph said “‘It saddened us but at the same time, it was a moment of joy for all of us,’ said Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur, as she and the rest of the family emerged from the Kot Lakhpat jail premises after the meeting that lasted more than three hours”, while the last paragraph said “Their meeting with Sarabjit lasted from 4.30 pm until 7 pm. Normally only one hour is allotted for visitors.” The special Correspondent clarifies that the text should have read “until after 7.30 pm”. >>A report “AIADMK MP Maitreyan evicted from the Rajya Sabha for disorderly behaviour” (April 25, 2008, page 1) said Rule 255 was invoked for the first time since 1989, while another report (inside pages) “Maitreyan: Opposition protests action” gave it as Rule 155. It should have been Rule 255. >>In a report “The momentum is with Super Kings” (“Sport”, April 23, 2008), Muttiah Muralitharan’s name was inadvertently left out from the team listing for “Chennai Super Kings”.
