Chess
MUMBAI: Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, making his first appearance in the city as the reigning World champion, is looking ahead towards the final phase of preparations for the 2008 World Championship match with GM Vladimir Kramnik in Germany. The Indian maestro will play an event in Leon (June), the German league (August) before the 12-match match-up with the Russian challenger. “"I feel Kramnik has an edge. He has been involved in match play recently, whereas I haven’t,” said the Indian GM, during a media interaction in connection with the NIIT MindChampions project. He played chess with Don Bosco High School children and NIIT, besides spending time with underprivileged children attached to the Each One Teach One Charitable Foundation. "Success in today’s age is determined by an individual’s ability to outperform the competition with information and knowledge. This coupled with determination, passion, focus and practice can help one excel in any field," said Anand.
