Tragic turn: Utter chaos prevailed at the site with wailing people as the autorickshaw lies mangled on the Hyderabad–Raichur road on Friday. MAHABUBNAGAR: Seven young men were killed and two injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided head on with a huge lorry (10-tyre lorry) near Appannapally TB hospital about 8 km from here on Hyderabad–Raichur road on Friday. The auto got smashed in the ghastly accident. According to rural police station Sub-Inspector Habibulah Khan, eight persons of Appannapally village, working as labourers were proceeding to Jedcharla town in the autorickshaw. Around 6:30 a.m. a huge lorry laden with cement pipes coming towards Mahabubnagar town collided with the auto coming in the opposite direction resulting in instantaneous death of 4 persons. The deceased were identified as E. Narsimlu (20), E. Ramesh (21), S. Shekar (19), B. Raju(14), Sanjeev (20), Raju (17) and Thirupathaiah (23) the auto driver. While Ramesh (20) who is under going treatment at Osmania Hospital is stated to be in a critical condition, Raju (20) is recovering. The crew of the lorry are still at large. Mahabubnagar rural police have registered a case. Following the accident, villagers of Appannapally staged a rasta roko for about an hour demanding justice and compensation to the members of bereaved families. RDO Satish Chandra, Tahasildar Narsi Reddy, DSP Madhu Mohan Reddy, along with other officials who rushed to the spot announced an ex gratia of Rs. 5000 each under National Safety Benefit Fund to the kin of the deceased. Nine injuredNalgonda Staff Reporter writes: Four persons, including a woman who were going to Vijayawada were killed while nine others sustained serious injuries in two accidents in Nalgonda district on Friday. According to M. Tirupathanna, Suryapet Circle Inspector, a 53-year-old Velagapudi Swarna Kumari of Bharathi Nagar, Krishnalanka in Vijayawada died on the spot when a sand-laden lorry hit the car in which she was travelling at Tekumatla on the National Highway no.9. Her husband V. Subba Rao, a rice miller and the car driver escaped unhurt. However, lorry driver Bandaru Krishnaiah, 35 and cleaner Bairu Krishnaiah, 29, both died when the lorry overturned soon after hitting the car. “Swarna Kumari who had come from Chicago (USA) was proceeding to her native place by car direct from the airport at Hyderabad, ” the Inspector said. In another accident, one D.Narasimha, 20, died on the spot when the van he was driving overturned at Tirumalapuram of Turkapally mandal. Nine others also sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Government hospital in Bhongir.
