TRS will lose in all 16 constituencies: Srinivas ‘Telangana sentiment not KCR’s property’ VIZIANAGARAM: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas challenged the Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K.Chandrasekhar Rao to contest the byelection from the Khairatabad Assembly constituency. Responding to the decision of the TRS to fields its candidate from Khairatabad, not withstanding its earlier stand to support Congress MLA P.Janardhan Reddy’s son P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Mr. Srinivas said the TRS president would surely lose the election. “If he contests from Khairatabad, his party will lose in all the other 16 constituencies, where he is fielding his candidates,” Mr. Srinivas told reporters at a press conference here on Friday. Confident postureExpressing confidence that the Congress would win a majority of seats in the byelections, the PCC president said that the ‘Telangana sentiment’ was not the property of KCR. On the Khairatabad and Terlam seats, he said that it was the decision of the high command as the Congress and other parties had agreed to honour the decisions taken in the past. Brushing aside the talk that the byelections were a referendum, the PCC chief said he was still hopeful that the TRS and the Left parties would join hands with the Congress in the 2009 elections. He said the Congress would win the elections only if the people were happy with the Government’s performance. He pointed out that development alone could not be considered a yardstick for judging the Government’s performance. Earlier, Mr Srinivas was given a rousing reception near V.T. Agraharam by Minister for Housing B. Satyanarayana, local MLA K. Veerabhadraswamy and other Congress leaders.
