Chidambaram to open eye hospital in Madurai

Tiruchi-based group sets its foot in Temple Town

MADURAI: Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will inaugurate Vasan Eye Care Hospital in the city on Sunday. This is the 25th eye care facility of the Tiruchi-based Vasan Health Care Group and the first to be set up in Madurai.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, A. M. Arun, Group Chairman, said that the hospital already had a ‘soft launch’ attracting a sizable number of patients every day and the formal inauguration was taking place now. Promising world-class eye care to people in and around the Temple City, he said that the 25-bedded hospital had facilities to treat the entire gamut of eye diseases.

Mr. Arun said that a good healthcare service provider would always have a space in any town in view of increasing number of cataract cases and demand for vision correction. Squint, glaucoma, diabetic retina, cataract, paediatric eye care, cornea care, contact lenses and cosmetic eye care would be among the services available at the Madurai hospital located on 80-Feet-Road, Anna Nagar. Giving details about the group’s plans, he said that 25 more hospitals would come up at various places in the next two years in places such as Coimbatore, Vellore, Kancheepuram, Mumbai and Kolkata. He said that concession in charges would be provided to deserving cases. The inaugural function will be held at the Madura College Grounds.
