Bank sets Rs. 2,000 crore target

TIRUCHI: Tiruchi District Central Cooperative Bank has chalked out a plan to achieve a total business turnover of Rs. 2,000 crore during 2008-09.
Speaking at a customers’ meet organised by the Sundar Nagar branch of the bank here on Thursday, general manager, T.Veeravinodhan said the bank had 57 branches spread over in the districts of Tiruchi, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Karur. A total of 336 primary agricultural cooperative banks and 800 other cooperative institutions were attached to the bank.
The bank was ranked third among central cooperative banks in the state in mobilisation of deposits. The total business achievement of the bank during the last fiscal stood at Rs. 1,500 crore that included Rs. 132 crore towards crop loans, Rs. 20 crore under medium term loan and Rs. 250 crore for jewel loans. The TDCCB through its primary agricultural cooperative banks had released jewel loans to the tune of Rs. 750 crore, while the loan assistance to women self-help groups stood at Rs. 16 crore. Based on these achievements, the TDCCB has chalked out a long term plan to step up the business for the current year up to Rs. 2,000 crore during this year. This would be ramped up to Rs. 2,500 crore by 2011 AD, he added. On computerisation programme, Mr. Veeravinodhan said all its 57 branches would be computerised before August.
