Man held for trying to assault minor

NEW DELHI: A 36-year-old man who has already served a seven-year sentence for criminally assaulting a woman was arrested on Thursday on charges of trying to assault a three-year-old girl at Sarai Rohilla here.

Around 9 p.m., Gurjeet Singh was taking the girl along with him when the residents of Moti Bagh got suspicious and overpowered him. They roughed him up before handing him over to the police.

During interrogation, Gurjeet purportedly claimed that he was taking the girl to buy toffees for her. He has been arrested on charges of attempting to criminally assault the minor girl.

Investigations revealed that Gurjeet was earlier arrested and convicted for criminally assaulting a woman.
