Promises 50 p.c. quota for women in all sectors Free education to be provided to tribal children BANGALORE: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in its action plan aimed at voters has promised that if enabled to form the government, it would provide free power for agricultural purposes, set up a revolving fund of Rs. 1,000 crore to ensure fair price for agricultural produce and grant 50 per cent reservation for women in all sectors. These are among the important promises the BSP has made to voters in the action plan that was released here on Saturday. The 40-page plan, prepared by a committee headed by the former IAS officer Bulla Subba Rao, was released by BSP general secretary Veer Singh, MP. In accordance with the Supreme Court order, 27 per cent reservation will be provided for Other Backward Classes in educational institutions. Free education will be provided to children from tribal families and those living in forests. The BSP has also promised to provide reservation for Dalit Christians on a par with the Dalits. The party will fight for getting classical language status for Kannada and is in favour of having Kannada as the language of administration. With regard to Bangalore, the BSP has said it will bring in legislation to protect owners of apartments from being exploited by builders and land developers. A BSP government will construct flats for all slum dwellers in Bangalore and transfer the ownership of the property to the beneficiaries.
