Include SSI development in manifestos: KASSIA

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) on Friday urged political parties to be Small Scale Industries-friendly. It has today released a charter of 8 demands and wants political parties to fulfil them, when they come to power. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, President of the KASSIA M.C.R. Shetty said that small industries were the largest employment generators in the State. Elected members and ministers should create a conducive atmosphere for their higher growth. The political parties contesting in the elections should add their plans for development of the industry in their respective manifestos, he added.

The 8-point charter includes infrastructure upgradation and connectivity between the hinterland and the ports of the State. Inter-connectivity between the districts was also important, the charter added. There is also an appeal for wider industrialisation of the rural areas.
