Former V-C’s statue unveiled

It marked the commencement of Andhra University Formation Day

VISAKHAPATNAM: Unveiling of a statue of former Vice-Chancellor M. Gopalakrishna Reddy marked the Andhra University Formation Day celebrations on Saturday.

Chairman of National Human Rights Commission S. Rajendra Babu unveiled the statue installed near the School of Economics building.

Chairman of AP State Council of Higher Education K.C. Reddy, Vice-Chancellor L. Venugopal Reddy, Rector B. Satyanarayana, Registrar P. Vijaya Prakash, Executive Council Members I. Muralikrishna Rao, B. Ganga Rao, S.V.S.S. Ramachandra Raju and P. Sri Devi, OSD R. Venkata Rao, Deans, HoDs, other faculty members, employees representative panel members, officials and others were present.

Earlier Prof. K.C. Reddy and others garlanded the bust of first V-C Sir C.R. Reddy and the university emblem.

At high school

The AU Formation Day was also celebrated in the AU High School.

Correspondent of the School Mallikarjuna Rao garlanded the statues of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Sastry.

Head Master V. Narasinga Rao, teachers and staff were present.
