SAI (Chennai) wins

Nazareth: Sports Authority of India, Chennai, lifted the Canon Margoschis Memorial Trophy defeating Chennai Football Association Youth team 7-6 via sudden death in the final of the State-level football tournament at Nazareth on Saturday.

At the end of regulation time, the teams were locked goalless. In the tie-breaker the teams scored four goals each.

In the tie-breaker, Ilamurugan, Pradeep, Vinothkumar, Siva scored for SAI. Sasikumar, Venkatesan, Rajesh Kumar and Rajan scored for Chennai Youth team.

In the sudden death, Ravichandran, Chinniah, Bino Godly scored for SAI. Wayne, Karthik scored and Augustine Babu missed for the loser.

Hat-trick by Gabriel

Six goals, including a hat-trick, by Gabriel helped Redeem FC thrash Senthilkumar FC 10-0 in the MDFA ‘C’ division league at Madurai on Saturday.

The results:

‘B’ division: Temple City FC 2 (Velu 2) bt Railway Institute 0.

‘C’ division: Redeem FC 10 (Gabriel 6, Julius, Veeramanikandan, Osgar, Vijayaraghavan) bt Senthilkumar FC 0; RL Institute 5 (Anil Thomas, Abdul Samad, Vimal Kumar, Tony, Aditya) bt Golden Star FC 0; Ismail FC 6 (Sayabkhan, Ramesh, Appansamy, Kumar, Karthick, Arunraj) bt Golden Star FC 0; RL Institute 2 (Rathi, Aravind) bt Olympian FC 1 (Ayyanar).

Dayanidhi shines

Leg-spinner P. Dayanidhi helped St. Peter’s Cricket Club (Kodaikanal) register a 109-run victory over Mansur Youngsters Cricket Club in the DCA first division league at Dindigul on Saturday.

The scores:

St. Peter’s CC 282 in 40.3 overs (P. Dayanidhi 44, K. Vinothkumar 40, R. Karthick 53, T. Mahendra Kumar 41) bt Mansur Youngsters CC 173 in 39.5 overs (Senthil 40, T. Manikandan 41, P. Dayanidhi six for 29).
