Bangalore: Ganjam’s Riverdance, “a sparkling confluence of platinum and diamonds” is a new collection inspired by the confluence of two rivers. Water is depicted through precious stones planted on shimmering platinum: if diamonds lend the design a gracious touch, blue aquamarines and green tourmalines accentuate the affect. The collection is crafted on the lines of Iraja, a Ganjam masterpiece, commissioned by the Platinum Guild International, and showcased as the centrepiece of the International Jewellery Fair in Basel, Switzerland, in 2007. “The focus of Riverdance is to defy traditional concepts of craftsmanship and create a contemporary, classic collection that captures the essence of the product with an international appeal,” Umesh Ganjam, Director of Ganjam, said at the launch here on Saturday. The collection, which aims to evoke the “timeless, natural life-force of a flowing river,” is entirely handmade using diamonds that are prong set for maximum lustre and impact. “Platinum is a craftsman’s delight and rarer than gold. However, our aim is not to replace gold,” said Vaishali Bannerjee, country manager, Platinum Guild International. “We are trying to showcase absolute platinum masterpieces at least once a year,” said Arunima Bhaumik, jewellery designer, Ganjam. The Riverdance Collection is available at the Ganjam flagship store on Infantry Road.
