Details of metro sought

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The Kochi Metro Rail Action Council has demanded that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the implementing agency for the Kochi metro-rail project release details such as the fare that would be charged from passengers and how traffic will be managed when work on the project is on.

At a meeting held here on Saturday, the Council further decided to oppose the laying of demarcation stones for the project on MG Road. As of now, demarcation stones have been laid in 23 kms of the total 25 kms route of the proposed metro-rail alignment, excepting MG Road.

The Action Council now has more representation, with former judge of the Kerala High Court K. Narayana Kurup and former Mayors K. J. Sohan, Mathew Pylee and Hamsa Kunju as patrons. The president of the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, E. S. Jose is the chairman of the council.
