Directive to BBMP

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission has directed the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to take steps to clean up public spaces that are in a bad shape.

The civic authority has also been asked to accord priority to hygiene and protecting people from health hazards without delay.

Commission chairperson S.R. Nayak passed the order, noting that a large number of private and public open spaces in the city were being used as toilets by the homeless, footpath dwellers and many others.

The commission has asked the BBMP to constitute a committee comprising officials of various departments to monitor effective implementation of public health regulations.
