Woman’s body found in drain

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The body of R. Padmavathi (47), who was a junior engineer at Bescom, was found in a drain near an apartment at Anandapura in Doddaballapur taluk on Saturday.

The police said that she was murdered by Raghu alias Rasool, who was formerly a driver with Bescom. Enraged by her refusal to give him money, Raghu had waylaid Padmavathi near her apartment and strangled her on Friday night. He then pushed her into a drain, the police said. Passers-by, who saw the body on Saturday morning, informed the police.

The accused was arrested from a cinema at Yelahanka.
