Manmohan failed as economist: Naidu

Staff Reporter

KANDULAPURAM (Prakasam Dt.): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh may be a world renowned economist, but he failed as an economist and head of the Government in controlling the spiralling prices in the country, Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu said.

Talking to reporters on party’s ‘Mee Kosam’ programme on Saturday, he said that it was the right of the Opposition to lodge protest in a democratic way.

Despite the United Nations and several international bodies warning that India could also join the 32 nations facing foodgrains scarcity in the months to come, Mr. Manmohan Singh could not take any precautionary measures to check inflation.

“The worst is he did not take up the issue with his Cabinet colleagues even after the hue and cry over rising prices during the last three months,” the TDP president alleged.
