Super luxury apartment complex planned

KOCHI: Dewa Projects Private Ltd., a venture promoted by a group of NRIs based in Kuwait, will build a super luxury apartment complex on Marine Drive in Kochi. K. Venugoplan Nair, chairman of the company, said the project would set new benchmarks for residential property.

The apartments will have a 10-year warranty. Kitchen, bathroom fittings, doors and other fittings would be provided by top companies in Germany, Italy, Australia and Canada. The complex will have six towers comprising 400 apartments surrounded by four acres of landscaped garden. It will have a quake-resistant structure. The price of a three-bedroom apartment will be more than Rs.3 crore.

The company has substantial real estate holding in major cities including Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The company was investing Rs.3,000 crore for the Kochi project. , which would be completed by 2011. It had conducted a study which revealed that Kochi had high potential in the real estate sector. Luxury apartments were in short supply, Mr. Nair said. — Staff Reporter

Roadside assistance service by Ford

KOCHI: Ford India has launched a 24-hour roadside assistance service for its customers in Kochi. Called Ford Service Roadside Assistance, it will be available for free for two years to all new Ford vehicles sold by authorised Ford dealer in Kochi.

P.K. Umashankar, General Manager, Product Marketing, Ford, said the service was launched in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Pune last year. Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana and Chandigarh were the new cities where the service was being extended to.

The company is launching the service in association with an international service provider, Mondial Assistance. Mechanic service, fuel delivery, jumpstart of batteries, assistance to unlock cars and towing assistance are among the services offered under the scheme. Two flat bed trucks and two ‘rapid response motorcycles’ have been deployed to provide the service. The Ford Service Roadside Assistance will be accessible through a national toll-free number. — Staff Reporter

Volvo Construction expects 20% growth

KOCHI: The growth in the State’s infrastructure provides immense scope for construction equipment manufacturers.

Volvo Construction Equipment – India, a wholly owned subsidiary of AB Volvo, expects a growth of over 20 per cent in the State.

The company is poised to expand its network in the State in the wake of huge requirement for roads, bridges and housing, Mrityunjaya Singh, head of the company, said. A wide range of construction equipment such as hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, motor graders, vibratory rollers and haulers are offered by the company.

The company, with its headquarters at Bangalore, has dealers in various parts of the country. The Volvo group manufactures trucks, buses and engines for power generation and marine applications. — Staff Reporter

Titan launches new watches

KOCHI: Titan Industries Ltd. has launched two new watches called Venus and Fairy Dust in the Raga Crystals collection. Titan Raga is a brand of feminine watches for the modern woman.

The new Raga Crystals watches are targeted at the upcoming wedding season. These watches come in interesting combinations of dial colours with patterned designs in more than 20 models. Venus is priced at Rs.4,450 and Fairy Dust at Rs.4,750, Abraham Jacob, area manager of the company, said. — Staff Reporter

Property show planned

KOCHI: The real estate portal IndiaProperty.com will organise a property fair in Dubai on May 2 and 3. It will also launch India Property Times, a real estate magazine, in Dubai.

The property fair will attract potential investors in the UAE, Shrikanth, national head of Sales and Operations, said. NRIs in UAE include managerial, professional and technical executives and their remittance was estimated at $2 billion annually.
