BANGALORE: There was a distinct drop in the patronage of the fans at the Chinnaswamy stadium for the Royal Challengers-Rajasthan Royals match on Saturday. The stadium which was packed to capacity for the match had many of the stands with vacant areas and the fans were shocked at the first-ball dismissal of skipper Rahul Dravid. A hush pervaded the ground as Shane Watson bowled his first over without conceding a run. When the Royal Challengers’ team was announced with Anil Kumble’s name in the line-up there was full-throated cheering from the crowd. The cheerleaders from the Washington Redskins team were pleasantly surprised to see the spectators in the eastern stands outjiving the cheer girls to a popular Kannada film number. Most of the girls watched the rambunctious dancing of the groundlings quite awestruck. The Redskins cheer girls would be leaving India by the month-end but they have spent some time training local girls to be cheerleaders.
