The salary hikes that are in prospect for teachers in government service will remain a pie in the sky for their counterparts in many unaided schools in Kerala, including those that follow CBSE and ICSE syllabi. A government-appointed committee is studying the service conditions of teachers in unaided schools following the State syllabus.

What ought be done to ensure satisfactory working conditions and wages in all unaided schools so that more talented people would see teaching as a career option?
