AIEEE: easy yet tested their nerves
HYDERABAD: Format of questions that are only seen in the IIT-JEE appeared in the AIEEE for the first time this year surprising the candidates aiming to enter into the National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Two new formats of questions - Paragraph type and Assertion Reasoning type made entry into the examination this year.
The exam was taken by nearly five lakh candidates across the country on Sunday for 13,600 odd seats available at the 19 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and in other prominent institutions that take AIEEE rankings for admissions.
Number of questions came down from 120 last year to 105 this year and each question carried three marks taking the total to 315. Every question also had a negative mark for wrong answer. Students said that the quality of questions was slightly easier compared to last year. Analysts say every mistake this year is going to be fatal because the number of questions has come down that means candidates will have lesser questions to score from. Ajay Antony, Vice President of TIME said that Physical Chemistry dominated the paper.
