Puducherry
keen eye: T. Shanmugham capturing sunrays on the pupil of his eyes ocussed through a mirror on beach road in Puducherry on Saturday. PUDUCHERRY: T. Shanmugham has taken a potentially risky step to spread awareness about issues related to global warming. On Saturday, standing on the beach road, he captured sunrays on the pupil of his eyes focussed through a mirror without any break for one hour to create awareness of global warming. His next feat will be to see the sun through naked eye uninterruptedly for few hours to highlight the dangers of global warming, he says. ‘Not worried’“I am not worried about the health consequence by doing so. I am confident of overcoming the problem by practising meditation,” says Mr. Shanmugham, a resident of Poornakuppam, near here. Claiming himself to be a follower of Vallalar Ramalinga Swamy, he avers that the saint’s teachings such as “Be outstanding, remain aware and yearn for learning” have helped him to embark on this risky path to record more achievements. A tailor by profession, he wants to become the cynosure of all eyes by entering into the Guinness Book of World Records. He has taken the issue of global warming following advice from his well-wishers. “I have come to know about the consequences of global warming through my friends. Also, I have seen visuals on television on the melting of ice blocks in Antarctica owing to this disastrous development,” he says with concern. Shanmugham also believes that his practice of meditation will help him to overcome any health problem and enable him to achieve difficult tasks easily, as his ultimate goal is to attain immortality.
